Casablanca – Nike has unveiled a new edition of its Air Force 1 Low as part of its “Family Reunion” collection, paying tribute to Moroccan culture and craftsmanship.
The sneaker is the first release from a new series inspired by different regions around the world, with Morocco taking center stage through a design that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary streetwear.
Nike’s approach is deliberately understated. Keeping the Air Force 1’s signature silhouette intact, Nike weaved Moroccan-inspired laser engravings into the leather, allowing tradition to become part of the sneaker’s identity without altering its classic design.
The sneaker carries subtle references to Morocco’s artistic identity, with laser-engraved motifs inspired by the geometric patterns of Moroccan zellige and the ornamental details that have long defined the country’s architecture and decorative arts.
Every detail transforms the Air Force 1 into more than a fashion statement, turning it into a tribute to the craftsmanship that has shaped the country’s visual heritage for centuries.
The color palette continues that tribute. While white remains the dominant tone, accents of Marrakech orange reference the city’s famous ochre walls, joined by shades of Passion Red and Light Orewood Brown that evoke Morocco’s warm landscapes, spice markets, and golden evening light.
Beyond architecture, the sneaker also nods to music. Circular details on the lace dubrae, heel, and insoles draw inspiration from vinyl records and turntables, paying tribute to the influence North African rhythms have had on hip-hop culture through sampling.
More than a reinterpretation of a classic sneaker, the Air Force 1 “Family Reunion” transforms a global icon into a celebration of Moroccan identity. It is a reminder that culture can be woven into design without losing the essence of what made the original timeless.
