Rabat – Moroccan singer Zouhair Bahaoui has established himself as one of Morocco’s leading pop stars, blending Moroccan rhythms with contemporary pop.
But for the artist, professional success is no longer the defining milestone of his life.
Becoming a father has been the greatest transformation, reshaping both his personality and his priorities.
Speaking to Billboard Arabia backstage before his performance at the Timitar Festival in Agadir, Bahaoui reflected on returning to perform for fans in his hometown.
During the interview, he opened up about fatherhood, looked back on key moments in his career, and shared his vision for upcoming music projects.
“The difference now is that I’ve become a father,” Bahaoui said. “Before, I was only responsible for myself,” he said.
“Now I have responsibilities, a family, and my daughter. Fatherhood has changed everything in my life. It made me think about the future, and now all my focus is on my daughter and my family.”
The impact of fatherhood has extended beyond his personal life and into his career.
The Moroccan artist revealed that he intentionally slowed down his professional activity this year so he could experience every moment of his daughter’s first year.
“This year, I couldn’t work as much because I wanted to spend my daughter’s first year by her side,” he explained.
“I wanted to watch her grow, see her take her first steps, and share every moment with her. I didn’t want to miss the most beautiful moments of her life.”
Discussing his future musical plans, Bahaoui said he has been considering releasing an album for some time.
However, he still prefers putting out standalone singles to ensure each song receives the attention it deserves.
“The idea of an album is definitely on my mind, and I have many songs ready,” he said.
“But I’m afraid some tracks won’t get the attention they deserve from me, so I prefer releasing consecutive singles so that each song can have its own moment.”
