Fez — Casablanca cyclists will take to the road on October 18 for “UNLOCK RIDE,” a Pink October initiative combining cycling, health awareness, and a message of solidarity with women facing breast cancer.

“Unlock Sports” and the “Sidi Ali – Unlock Sports Team,” is organizing the event, which will start and finish opposite Morocco Mall, with two routes designed for different levels of experience.

Participants can choose between a 30-kilometer beginner-friendly route and a 50-kilometer open-category course. The organizers say coaches and assistance teams will accompany riders throughout both routes.

Cycling for health and solidarity

Although “UNLOCK RIDE” places particular emphasis on women during Pink October, participation is open to women and men of all ages and cycling levels.

The morning program will begin around 7:30 a.m., with cycling activities continuing until approximately 9:30 a.m.

After the rides, organizers plan to host activities, workshops, health-focused spaces, and opportunities for participants to meet and exchange around sport, prevention, and wellbeing.

In a press release shared with Lifestyle magazine, Marouane Ait Oufkir, founder of “Unlock Sports” and president of the “Sidi Ali – Unlock Sports Team,” said the initiative is intended to give women a space to build confidence through sport.

“We want this day to be, above all, a moment where women can come together through sport, gain confidence, and discover their own ability to go further,” he said.

The event’s message also connects physical activity with broader conversations around breast cancer prevention and personal health.

The World Health Organization notes that regular physical activity can reduce the risk of several noncommunicable diseases, including breast cancer.

The US National Cancer Institute similarly reports that physically active women have a lower risk of breast cancer, although exercise does not eliminate the possibility of developing the disease.

Two routes for different riders

The shorter 30-kilometer course is intended for beginners and cyclists looking for a more accessible group ride.

The 50-kilometer route is aimed at participants seeking a more demanding challenge.

Registration is already open, with cyclists able to register online for either distance.
