Fez — Morocco has opened applications for the 57th edition of the Morocco Book Prize, with submissions accepted through October 31.

The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication announced the application period on October 5, opening the competition to Moroccan authors whose eligible books first appeared in 2025.

The annual prize covers nine categories spanning poetry, fiction, humanities, social sciences, literary, artistic and linguistic studies, translation, Amazigh literature, studies of Amazigh culture, and literature for children and young adults.

Who can apply

Writers, poets, critics, researchers, thinkers, and translators of Moroccan nationality are eligible to participate.

Submitted books must have been published in their first edition during 2025 and legally deposited.

Works may have been published either in Morocco or abroad and can be written in Arabic, Amazigh, Hassani expression, or a foreign language.

Books written by more than two authors are not eligible.

Previous recipients of the Morocco Book Prize must also wait three years from the year in which they won before submitting another application.

The rules reflect the prize’s broad scope, allowing works from different disciplines and languages to compete while maintaining eligibility requirements linked to publication date and authorship.

Applications open through October 31

Candidates can submit their files between October 5 and October 31 to the Directorate of Books, Libraries and Archives in Rabat.

Applications must include a participation request, the required information form, an updated curriculum vitae outlining the candidate’s academic and literary background, and a copy of the national identity card.

Applicants must also provide eight copies of the nominated book.

For the translation category, candidates must additionally submit three copies of the original work and documentation proving translation rights.

The ministry’s official prize platform provides further information on the competition and its governing rules.

Now in its 57th edition, the Morocco Book Prize remains one of the country’s established mechanisms for recognizing Moroccan writing, research, translation, and literary production across several languages and fields.
