Rabat — Pathé Maroc is preparing to expand again in 2027, with Casablanca emerging as a key focus as the cinema operator deepens its presence in Morocco and signs a new local partnership with Peugeot.

Frédéric Godfroid, general manager of Pathé Maroc, announced during a ceremony in Casablanca on Tuesday that another Pathé cinema is scheduled to open in 2027. The company has not yet disclosed the official location or opening date.

However, separate reporting earlier this year identified Casablanca’s Tachfine Center as the site being prepared for a second Pathé cinema in the city. Le Desk reported in February that Marjane Group was working toward bringing the cinema operator to the shopping center after the success of their first Casablanca collaboration at Californie Mall.

Pathé has not publicly confirmed that the cinema announced for 2027 is the Tachfine Center project, meaning the connection remains likely but unconfirmed.

A second Casablanca address takes shape

If the Tachfine project proceeds as reported, it would give Casablanca two Pathé locations and extend the operator beyond the southern Californie area toward another major part of the city.

Tachfine Center sits on Boulevard Ibn Tachfine and serves neighborhoods around Belvédère, Hay Mohammadi, Ain Sebaâ, Derb Omar, and the Casa-Voyageurs area. Marjane Group lists the shopping center among its major Casablanca retail properties.

Pathé entered the Moroccan market in December 2023 with Pathé Californie, its first cinema in the Kingdom.

The complex includes eight screens and around 1,200 seats, with IMAX Laser, 4DX, and VIP experiences among its main features. Pathé describes the Casablanca site as a showcase for its combination of immersive technology, digital services, and premium comfort.

The company then expanded to Rabat in December 2025 with Pathé Dar Essalam, a smaller four-screen venue with 149 seats, Samsung Onyx 2 4K screens, and Dolby Atmos sound.

The next opening forms part of a broader development strategy agreed with Marjane Group in 2025.

The two companies announced plans to develop several new cinema complexes across Morocco, with Pathé President Jérôme Seydoux saying at the time that the objective was to build a network across the country’s principal cities.

Peugeot partnership adds another layer

The latest expansion announcement came during the signing of a partnership between Pathé Maroc and Peugeot Maroc at Pathé Californie.

Hind El Youssi Tazi, Peugeot brand director in Morocco, said the partnership reflects the automaker’s interest in cinema and its ambition to contribute to Morocco’s cultural landscape.

“The aim of the partnership is to be able to support Moroccans in their cultural development,” she said during the ceremony.

Godfroid described the agreement as a cultural commitment built around the experience shared by the two brands.

“When you drive a car, you experience emotions. When you come to the cinema, you experience emotions too,” he said.

The Moroccan agreement extends an international partnership between Peugeot and Pathé announced in January.

That broader collaboration covers film production, distribution, and cinema exhibition, including branded content, cinema activations, vehicles used in productions, and joint audience experiences.

In Morocco, the two companies have already experimented with watch parties around national football matches. The partnership is also expected to include podcast content and other cultural activations.

Building a wider cinema network

For Pathé, however, the more consequential development may be the physical expansion of its cinema network.

Morocco currently has Pathé venues in Casablanca and Rabat, while the 2025 agreement with Marjane Group explicitly envisages several additional locations.

A second Casablanca cinema would deepen the company’s presence in the country’s largest city while making its premium cinema offer accessible from a different part of the metropolitan area.

The unanswered question is whether the 2027 opening announced this week is indeed Tachfine Center.

Until Pathé confirms the address, the project remains one to watch. What is already clear is that the company’s Moroccan expansion is moving beyond its first flagship multiplex, with new locations and commercial partnerships gradually building a wider cinema ecosystem around the brand.
