Casablanca – Morocco’s landscapes offer plenty of reasons to hit the road, from winding mountain passes to palm-filled valleys and the vast edges of the Sahara. This December, Rallye Sirocco invites participants to experience that diversity behind the wheel, with a journey that combines driving, discovery, and support for local communities.
The inaugural edition will run from December 18-23, taking 15 crews across a 1,035-kilometre route from Marrakech to the gateway of the Sahara.
ASACM and the Association de la Jeunesse Marocaine en France (AJMF), two non-profit associations, organize the event. MG serves as the title partner, while the Fédération Marocaine des Véhicules Anciens and the Association de la Jeunesse Marocaine à Toulouse support the inaugural edition.
Organizers have designed the event as a premium experience, but its purpose goes beyond the journey itself. The rally also supports humanitarian initiatives for students in two of the communities along its route.
Not a race against the clock
Unlike conventional motorsport competitions, Rallye Sirocco focuses on regularity rather than outright speed. Crews must maintain designated average speeds and reach checkpoints at scheduled times, making precision and consistency just as important as the drive itself.
The six-day event will feature four stages and welcome 30 participants. Drivers do not need a motor racing competition licence to enter, opening the experience to a wider range of motoring enthusiasts.
From Marrakech to the edge of the Sahara
The route begins in Marrakech before crossing the High Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate, a city known for its kasbahs and cinematic landscapes.
From there, crews will continue to M’Hamid El Ghizlane, near the Saharan dunes, before heading north through Zagora and the Drâa Valley, home to one of Morocco’s most extensive oasis landscapes.
The journey will also pass through Foum El Oued and Taznakht, a town known for its Amazigh weaving traditions, before reaching the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Together, these stops offer a cross-section of Morocco’s landscapes and heritage, from mountain roads and desert horizons to historic architecture and traditional crafts.
What will participants get
Rallye Sirocco will provide each crew with an all-inclusive package featuring an MG ZS Hybrid+, fuel, accommodation, meals, cultural activities, official clothing, and event logistics.
The organizers will also use digital tools to support participants throughout the rally. Sirocco Tracker, which runs on Teltonika hardware, will provide crew tracking and safety support, while Sirocco Map will complement the event’s navigation tools. A separate regularity system will handle timing, calculations, and live standings.
A rally with a purpose
Beyond the driving experience, Rallye Sirocco has a humanitarian commitment to 323 students. Its initiatives target 112 students in M’Hamid El Ghizlane and 211 in Aït Ben Haddou, with part of the participation fees going towards humanitarian and social projects.
The initiative aims to connect a passion for motoring with tangible support for the communities that welcome the rally along its route.
For its first outing, Rallye Sirocco brings together a scenic road trip, a carefully paced driving challenge, and a commitment to local communities, offering participants a different way to discover Morocco.
