Casablanca – Chaeryeong, a member of K-pop girl group ITZY, will make her solo debut on November 9 with her first mini album, “Lovesick.”
JYP Entertainment recently released the album’s trailer on YouTube, offering fans a first look at the story behind the upcoming release.
Rather than previewing the music, the trailer takes a storytelling approach, unfolding like a book titled “Lovesick.” Its pages introduce a character who seems indifferent to almost everything around her, no matter what happens.
“She wasn’t any different from other people, except for the fact that she wasn’t interested in most of the things going on in the world,” the narrator says.
The story continues with a series of unexpected situations that fail to get a reaction from the character.
“Even in front of a birthday cake, when her phone was on fire, when she won the lottery, no matter how loud her neighbors were, and even when the floor was covered in bubbles, she was always the same,” the narrator adds.
Then comes the twist. The seemingly unbothered character falls in love with an ambiguous “it,” leaving viewers wondering what could finally capture her attention.
The trailer’s unusual narrative gives “Lovesick” a sense of mystery without revealing too much about the music itself. By leaving the object of the character’s affection unidentified, it invites fans to piece together the story as more teasers arrive.
The four-track mini album features the title track “Lovesick,” alongside “Moonlit Club,” “Scent,” and “Favorite Reason.” Chaeryeong also co-wrote the lyrics for “Favorite Reason,” adding a songwriting credit to her first solo release.
Chaeryeong’s debut marks a new chapter seven years after she joined ITZY in 2019. She will become the third member of the group to release solo music, following Yeji, who debuted with the EP “Air” in 2025, and Yuna, who released “Ice Cream” earlier this year.
With “Lovesick,” Chaeryeong will have the opportunity to introduce a new side of herself beyond her work with ITZY. Fans will discover how the story translates into sound when the mini album arrives on November 9.
