Fez — Casablanca will host “Echo of Casablanca – Culture and Literature Anfa” on October 11 at the Anfa Cultural Complex, in collaboration with regional associations and the Moroccan Writers Association.
The one-day program blends workshops, forums and an evening open mic designed to showcase young talent and bring literature closer to new audiences.
Organizers describe the event as a coming-of-age moment for the city’s cultural scene.
After five years of projects, festivals and new books, the Moroccan Writers Association says the 2025–2026 season opens with higher ambitions and a vision built on excellence, innovation and openness. “Echo of Casablanca” ties into the complex’s open days and to the association’s broader push to strengthen links between authors and cultural institutions.
The program is varied and diverse. Throughout the day, visitors can join literary workshops and discussion forums that also touch on artificial intelligence and photography.
Partner associations will run theater workshops and introductory sessions in origami. There will be activities focused on environmental awareness and recycling, chess meet-ups that invite intergenerational play, and a musical and literary open mic to close the evening and hand the stage to emerging voices. The goal is a space where language and creative practice meet in an inclusive, accessible atmosphere.
Impact is part of the brief. The association frames “Echo of Casablanca” as a practical step toward asserting the place of literature in public life and bringing it closer to younger generations. Invited guests include workers and high-school students from local institutions, with the hope that face-to-face encounters will spark a habit of reading and a taste for writing.
Organizers also underline what civic partnerships can do when they are aligned, arguing that the sum of efforts by associations can carry the echo of Moroccan culture across the country and abroad.
The event doubles as a milestone for the Moroccan Writers Association. Since its founding in 2020, the NGO says it has organized dozens of cultural activities, published collective anthologies and built sustainable ties with national and international partners.
This sixth year begins with four clear aims: consolidate the progress of the last five seasons, amplify Moroccan writers in the cultural conversation, encourage youth to write as a form of expression, and present Casablanca as a beacon for cultural celebration.
Practical details are set. “Echo of Casablanca – Culture and Literature Anfa” takes place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cultural Complex of Anfa in Casablanca. Organizers will provide free transportation from several meeting points in the city, with pick-up locations to be announced on event channels ahead of the date.
