Marrakech – Italy is bringing a touch of holiday magic to train travel this December with a special night service linking Rome to Munich’s legendary Christmas markets.

The Espresso Monaco will depart Rome on December 5 and 12, returning from Munich on December 7 and 14.

Part of Italy’s FS Treni Turistici initiative, the festive service joins a series of limited-edition tourist trains, including a popular Christmas Market journey to Arezzo.

Passengers can expect a holiday-themed experience on board, with festive music, seasonal decorations, and a small gift for every traveler.

A bar and restaurant service ensures comfort throughout the overnight journey.

Organizers describe the trip as “an experience that combines the comfort of an overnight journey with the thrill of discovery,” encouraging customers to  “forget the stress of driving and airport queues. With the Espresso Monaco, you’ll fall asleep in Italy and wake up in the Alps.”

Travelers can choose from single or double cabins, or opt for couchettes with 4 or 6 beds.

The train departs from Roma Termini at 7:57 p.m., arriving in Munich at 1 p.m. the following day.

The route includes scenic stops in Verona, Trento, Bolzano, Bressanone, Fortezza, Vipiteno, Colle Isarco, Brennero, Innsbruck, and Kufstein.

The return trips depart Munich at 1:40 p.m. on December 7 and 14, arriving back in Rome the next morning at 06:33 a.m.

This limited-edition festive train promises a stress-free and memorable way to enjoy Europe’s winter charm, combining comfort, scenery, and holiday cheer in one unique journey.
