Marrakech – The Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) is set to pay tribute to four remarkable artists this year: Jodie Foster, Guillermo del Toro, Raouya, and Hussein Fahmi.

For over two decades, the Marrakech International Film Festival has honored filmmakers and actors who embody the vitality of cinema, its ability to unite, move, and inspire.

For its 22nd edition, the Festival celebrates four talents whose careers reflect the richness and diversity of the seventh art, as said by the  organizers in a statement.

Through these tributes to artists from different backgrounds, each representing — in their own way — the universal power of cinema, Marrakech reaffirms its role as a crossroads of cultures and creativity, a meeting place where world cinemas engage in dialogue and where the voices shaping our collective imagination come together.

Jodie Foster

Discovered as a child star, Jodie Foster has sustained a rare artistic rigor across decades, becoming one of Hollywood’s most respected figures.

She moves seamlessly between powerfully dramatic roles and the direction of deeply personal, visionary works.

Guillermo del Toro

A true master of fantasy, Guillermo del Toro continually explores the beauty hidden behind monsters. In his cinematic worlds, terror blends with tenderness, and ugliness gives way to grace.

The three-time Oscar winner — two for “The Shape of Water” and one for Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio” — has built a visually and emotionally rich body of work where every creature reveals a spark of humanity.

Raouya

A true icon of Moroccan cinema, Raouya, born Fatima Harandi, has moved generations of audiences with her powerful performances and emotional depth. From theater to films by Narjiss Nejjar, Noureddine Lakhmari, and Laïla Marrakchi, she has become known for her rare presence, blending dignity, tenderness, and intensity — an embodiment of Morocco’s emotional landscape.

The Moroccan legend expressed heartfelt joy and emotion at being honored in her home country, in the Red City, at one of cinema’s grandest gatherings.

Hussein Fahmi

With his charismatic presence and captivating gaze, Hussein Fahmi has embodied the sophistication and modernity of Egyptian cinema for over 50 years.

As an actor, director, and producer, he has balanced artistic ambition with popular appeal, bringing Arab cinema to the world stage. In every role, he carries a sense of elegance where authenticity meets emotion.
