Casablanca – Laughter, applause, and quiet moments of pride filled the L’Oréal Maroc’s Academy in Casablanca last Friday, December 19, as 65 young hairdressers received their certificates, marking the end of an intense training journey and the start of a professional future shaped by skill, ambition, and human connection.
The ceremony was not just about diplomas, but about celebrating talent, effort, and the personal paths that brought each hairdresser to this moment. Trainers, educators, and executives gathered alongside families and friends, creating an atmosphere that felt closer to a milestone celebration than a formal certification.
For many of the hairdressers, the day symbolized more than technical achievement. It represented confidence gained, doors opening, and the feeling of being seen and supported in a profession that blends craft with care.
Yassine Najmi, General Manager of the Professional Products Division at L’Oréal Maroc, spoke about the unique role salons play in Moroccan society, beyond styling and beauty.
“We know, for instance, that the salons in Morocco are areas where people are looking for exchange, for connection with people, but at the same time they are looking for beauty, trust, and confidence,” he told MWN.
For him, this human dimension is what gives salons their special value; they are spaces where people feel safe, listened to, and empowered.
Talent, confidence, and a profession rooted in people
That sense of purpose was echoed throughout the ceremony, particularly in the way speakers described hairdressing as a profession closely tied to self esteem and well-being.
Laila Benjelloun, Country Manager for L’Oréal Maroc, reflected on the deeper meaning behind beauty and self-care.
“For me today it’s a very interpersonal relationship between people and beauty and self-care,” she said, adding that it goes far beyond appearances.
She spoke about confidence, determination, and the power of helping people realize their dreams, noting that wellness and well-being continue to prove resilient even in times of crisis, because “wellness today is something that it’s as important as health I would say,” she concluded.
The celebration also highlighted the diversity of journeys represented in the room. Some hairdressers came from large cities, others from smaller towns, all united by a shared desire to learn and excel.
For Ouarda El Khattabi, Head of Education and Training in the Professional Products Division at L’Oréal Maroc, this diversity is central to the program’s mission. “We have talent all over Morocco,” she said.
“The idea was really to offer our training beyond the borders of cities, so that training can be accessible in all regions of Morocco,” she added.
By opening access to high-level training in places such as Settat, Marrakech, and Kalaat Sraghna, the program aims to ensure that ambition is never limited by geography.
As certificates were handed out and cameras flashed, the mood in the academy reflected the belief that talent exists everywhere, and with the right support, it can grow into confidence, opportunity, and a career built to last.
