Fez — Morocco will host a vibrant Bollywood-inspired roadshow on January 28 and 29, as the Dancing DJ Naz production takes over stages in Rabat and Casablanca, introducing local audiences to a live format still rarely seen on Moroccan stages.
Produced by Tendansia, the show is presented as the first performance in Morocco entirely devoted to the Bollywood aesthetic. The roadshow will open at the Bahnini Theater before moving the following day to the Studio des Arts Vivants, offering spectators an immersive dive into an artistic universe largely shaped by Indian cinema.
A hybrid stage experience inspired by Bollywood
Running for approximately 75 minutes, the performance adopts a choreographic roadshow format that blends dance, music, and narrative elements. Drawing directly from Bollywood’s expressive codes, the production relies on synchronized choreography, heightened gestures, vivid costumes, and strong visual storytelling.
The show combines Bollywood dance with Afro House and world music influences, layered over DJ sets and live vocal performances. This fusion places the project at the crossroads between a concert and a dance spectacle, aligning it with an international trend that favors immersive, genre-blending stage experiences over traditional recital formats.
Organizers describe the production as an invitation to experience Bollywood beyond the screen, translating its cinematic language into a live, collective moment.
International artists on Moroccan stages
The artistic direction is led by Dancing DJ Naz, a UK-based figure known for merging DJ culture with dance and live performance. Over the years, DJ Naz has developed a distinctive style that bridges club energy and theatrical presentation, positioning Bollywood music within contemporary global soundscapes.
Choreography is handled by Bolly Flex, a Europe-based dance company specializing in Bollywood and cross-cultural movement styles. Their performances emphasize precision, group dynamics, and visual impact, reinforcing the show’s cinematic inspiration.
Live vocals are provided by Sonia Panesar, whose presence adds a performative and emotional layer to the production. The roadshow also marks the first appearance in Morocco of Mr Kay, an artist whose work moves between urban sounds and international influences.
Expanding Morocco’s live performance landscape
By touring Rabat and Casablanca, the Bollywood roadshow positions itself within Morocco’s evolving cultural calendar, where international formats increasingly intersect with local audiences. While Bollywood cinema has long enjoyed popularity in Morocco, live stage productions inspired by its aesthetics remain relatively rare.
Organizers see the project as an opportunity to diversify performance offerings and introduce new visual and musical languages to Moroccan theaters. The roadshow’s arrival reflects a broader openness within Morocco’s cultural scene, where hybrid performances and global influences are finding growing resonance.
As the curtains rise in Rabat and Casablanca, the Dancing DJ Naz roadshow signals not only a celebration of Bollywood culture, but also a step toward more eclectic and immersive live experiences on Moroccan stages.
