Rabat – On February 25, at 9:30 p.m., the historic Bahia Palace will host Jinān Al Andalus, a Sufi Andalusian music concert led by Moroccan musician Hamid Ajbar.
The event is part of this year’s Noches de Ramadán program, organized by the Instituto Cervantes de Marrakech in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in Rabat.
The concert features qasidas and muwashahat from masters such as Ibn Arabi, Rabia Al Adawiyya, Al-Shushtari, Al-Harrak, and Al-Busiri, offering audiences a musical journey from the gardens of Córdoba and Granada to Damascus, with regional rhythms and maqamat unique to each tradition.
Ajbar, a Chefchaouen native now based in Granada, trained in Morocco and Spain and has collaborated internationally with artists including Paco de Lucía and Carmen Linares.
He will be joined by Aziz Samsaoui (qanun), Fathi Ben Yakoub (violin), Mouhssine Koraichi (oud), and Khalid Ahaboune (percussion).
Bahia Palace, a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture, takes visitors back in time to experience the grandeur of one of Marrakech’s most visited historic landmarks.
Built in the late 19th century, the palace showcases Moroccan and Islamic artistry through its intricately decorated rooms, lush gardens, and expansive courtyards.
