Rabat – Casablanca has launched its first e-sports gaming center at the Zefzaf Cultural Center in the Maarif district.

The project comes from a partnership between the City of Casablanca, Casa Events and Animation, and the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FRMJE).

Abdessadeq Mourchid, President of the Maârif District Council, emphasized that the center goes beyond entertainment.

“Our goal is to structure e-sports locally, including the creation of professional teams and a city-wide league,” Mourchid said.

The center also aims to provide young players with a space to train, develop skills, and showcase emerging talent in electronic sports.

This launch positions Casablanca as a forward-looking hub for digital innovation and talent development, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of competitive gamers and creative professionals.

The growth of e-sports comes alongside new national initiatives.

Recently, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication’s Department of Communication launched Moroccan Video Games, a platform highlighting locally developed titles and offering visibility to emerging creators.

Hosted on the MGI website, the page currently features five Moroccan-developed games and serves as the first official directory for the country’s video game industry.

Developers can submit details about their projects, including team names, platforms, engines, trailers, and category tags, providing a structured pathway to showcase their work nationally.
