Casablanca – As Ramadan draws to a close, preparations for Eid Al Fitr gradually begin. One of the most cherished traditions during this time is preparing traditional Moroccan Eid sweets to welcome guests and embrace the festive spirit. Among the easiest and most beloved recipes is Richbond.

This delicious treat is appreciated for its simplicity and quick preparation. Its fragrant orange blossom aroma and coconut coating give it a festive touch, making it a popular homemade sweet served to guests during Eid celebrations, often alongside Moroccan mint tea.

Ingredients

3 eggs

140 g sugar

Vanilla sugar

10 g baking powder

160 ml vegetable oil

600 g flour

200 g orange jam

40 ml orange blossom water

125 g desiccated coconut

Instructions

In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla until well combined.

Add the vegetable oil, mixing until the mixture becomes smooth.

Add baking powder. Gradually incorporate the flour until a soft dough forms.

Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

Bake in a medium-heat oven until the cookies become lightly golden.

In a small saucepan, warm the orange jam with the orange blossom water, stirring until smooth.

Stick two cookies together with the warm jam to create small sandwich biscuits.

Dip the assembled cookies briefly in the jam mixture, then roll them in desiccated coconut to coat.

And now, Richbond is ready to be served with atay (Moroccan mint tea) for Eid breakfast.
