Rabat – Canadian rapper Drake has sparked a wave of sarcasm online after unveiling his new tattoo.
Internet users have been sharing photos of Drake showcasing a tattoo on his forehead. While many celebrities choose their faces for their tattoos, the designs vary widely from one to the other.
Drake apparently chose a word in Arabic to be his new tattoo, rendered in Latin letters. This is also common, but the term used caught the attention of many internet users. Drake chose the word “miskin” which translates to “needy” or “poor” in English.
Over the weekend, Drake’s tattoo caught the attention of many who took to social media to share their opinion on his decision.
“Drake has stunned his fans by unveiling a fresh face tattoo that has sparked conversations about its significance,” the Journal Post wrote on X, formerly Twitter on November 24.
A user on X added that the new face tattoo “certainly caused a stir!”
“It seems like people are divided on what the tattoo actually means. Some say that ‘miskeen’ translates to ‘poor’ or ‘pathetic’ in Arabic, while others say it has a more positive meaning like ‘sweet’ or ‘innocent’,” they said.
Another one sarcastically mocked people who said that the word is “Toronto slang,” describing the situation as “cultural appropriation.”
“Cultural appropriation is Drake getting a Miskeen tattoo on his head, and then everyone saying that it’s TORNOT SLANG,” he said.
Another user added: “Now drake got everyone on tiktok arguing who owns the miskeen.”
