Rabat – Spanish model and influencer Georgina Rodriguez posted earlier this week a picture in a green Abaya dress, which was designed by Moroccan fashion designer Sanaa El Haddad.
El Haddad expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback received on the garment, after Rodriguez shared it on her Instagram account on Saturday.
Rodriguez posted a picture of her in the traditional dress on her social media platforms in celebration of Saudi Arabia’s national day earlier this week.
The designer explained to SNRTnews that the abaya Georgina Rodriguez wore was one of five traditional abayas that she was given as a gift during her time in Doha to follow the 2022 World Cup.
El Haddad, who lives in the Qatari capital, also praised the international reputation of traditional Moroccan dress, more particularly the caftan.
“The Moroccan caftan is known for its sophistication and elegance thanks to the talent traditional teachers possess, who are creative in their field of work, and known for their high craftsmanship and precision,” she said.
“The Moroccan caftan has been worn by queens, princesses, and high-ranking diplomats and artists on various occasions and celebrations around the world,” she added.
El Haddad designs traditional fashion and has many famous female figures in the Arab world as clients, such as Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Misned.
Morocco has a rich cultural legacy, with the classic caftan being one of its most iconic garments.
