Rabat – Embarking on a remarkable journey of friendship and adventure, Herre and Jesper, two friends from Groningen in the Netherlands, have successfully completed a two-month cycling expedition to Morocco on a tandem, a bicycle built for two or more riders.

The duo began their incredible journey on May 1, captivating audiences from across the world through their daily updates on TikTok, where they have gained a massive following of more than 250,000 followers.

After arriving in Morocco on June 20, Herre and Jesper found themselves torn between prolonging their stay in the hospitable country and their commitments back home.

“Everyone here is incredibly hospitable, and it’s a wonderful country. We would love to stay longer,” said Herre, as reported by Dutch youth channel Cestmocro.

The friends, both of whom are 18 years old, decided to return to the Netherlands on Wednesday morning. “We both have important matters to attend to in our homeland,” Herre explained, stressing that the exciting adventure has left a lasting impression on them.

The cyclists’ adventure was inspired by the iconic song “Op de tandem naar Marokko,” meaning “On the Tandem to Morocco” in English, a 1977 song by Dutch artist Armand.

The pair traveled on a limited budget, mostly relying on a tent for overnight stays. But they welcomed the hospitality of locals along the way, opting to spend nights at people’s homes whenever possible.

Throughout their journey, Herre and Jesper faced numerous obstacles, from encountering fences along their route through Belgium to grappling with punctured tires.

Despite their financial constraints and the various obstacles they encountered, the duo’s enthusiasm and humorous travel diary won the hearts of their viewers.
