Casablanca – Syrian singer Al Shami released “Baby,” the second single from his album “Hawiyah,” on Monday, continuing the cinematic story he introduced with “Ana Baadak.“

Released two weeks after “Ana Baadak,” the new song acts as a prequel, taking listeners back to the events that led to the heartbreaking reunion portrayed in the first release.

In “Ana Baadak,” starring actress Jennifer Azar, Al Shami unexpectedly crosses paths with the woman he once loved after a long time apart, repeatedly asking the question that gives the song its title: “Why did you come back?”

While the first music video focused on their emotional reunion, it left one important question unanswered: what caused their separation in the first place?

That answer arrives in “Baby.”

Jennifer Azar returns to reprise her role as the story shifts back in time, showing the couple during happier days before everything changed. As they enjoy their relationship, they suddenly find themselves pursued by a gang, forcing them to flee.

The chase ultimately separates them, leaving Al Shami with only one reminder of their love: a necklace containing their photos, which slips from Azar’s neck during the chaos and becomes the emotional link between both music videos.

Beyond the music itself, the connected storyline gives both releases the feeling of a short film rather than two standalone music videos. Each scene builds on the previous one, making the experience just as engaging visually as it is musically.

And the response has been immediate.

Less than 24 hours after its release, “Baby” surpassed 1.5 million views on YouTube, adding to the momentum created by “Ana Baadak,” which has already exceeded 14 million views.

With only two songs released from Hawiyah, anticipation is already building for the rest of the album as fans wait to see how both the music and the story continue.
