Rabat- Morocco won the “best stand design” award, which stood out for its light and large 630 meter squared design at the World Travel Market (WTM) that was held from November 7- 9 in London.
The Moroccan National Tourism Office’s stand (ONMT) highlighted Moroccan heritage through its structure and design, the Office said in a statement.
The stand displayed an array of items specific to Morocco. A statement from the event claimed the stand highlighted the “generosity of Moroccan gastronomy, the excellence of craftsmanship, the richness of culture and the diversity of natural landscapes.”
ONMT Director-General Adel El Fakir said, “this award gives Morocco a fresh boost and reinforces our commercial and promotional strategy on the British market.”
El Fakir continued, “this is a market to which we attach great importance and for which we have great ambitions.”
The award reinforces the ONMT’s efforts on the British market, which is important for Morocco’s tourism revival. The ONMT aims to accelerate growth and double tourist flow to Morocco aiming to exceed 1.2 million people by 2027.
Director for the UK and Ireland at the Moroccan National Tourist Office Jamal Younes Kilito, highlighted that Morocco’s tourism sector is improving and has reached 75% of its 2019 performance despite the borders’ closure due to the pandemic.
The tourism office’s participation at World Travel Market bolsters Morocco’s ongoing efforts to promote tourism, a critical sector to the country’s socio- economic development. Following the COVID-19 pandemic the ONMT has launched several campaigns to revive the tourism industry.
ONMT recently launched a new campaign, “Morocco, the Land of Light,” which seeks to promote Morocco as a holiday destination to an international market.
Additionally, the tourism office launched two promotional campaigns to target French tourists in March, in collaboration with Carrefour Voyages and Havas Voyages.
