Rabat – Saudi Arabia’s government issued an ad earlier this week asking citizens to stop inviting in census workers for tea, coffee, and meals as this stands in the way of them doing their job.
The video depicts a government official stopping at a door front and introducing himself as a census worker. While the worker planned to stop only for a few minutes to collect the necessary data, the house owner naturally invites him in to sit and eat with the family.
While appearing to have been slightly vexed by the gesture, the worker accepts the invitation while saying that he can only stay for a few minutes as he still has work to do.
The host family then proceeds to offer the worker coffee, and sweets, and while the official attempts to collect data for his official duty, the host family says that it’s time for lunch.

While visibly disgruntled, the census worker still stays with the family while waiting impatiently to get the chance to do his official duty.
The hilarious ad finishes with a short statement explaining that collecting data is an official business that should be carried out within a limited time frame, and calling on citizens to respect the video’s main message.
Posted on the social media platform Reddit, the video went viral as people upvoted (liked) it and shared their own experiences with Saudi Arabia’s famous spirit of hospitality and generosity towards others strangers.
