Rabat – Morocco’s National Library in Rabat will host an exhibition documenting the “depth” of bilateral relations between Morocco and Serbia in March.

The exhibition, prepared by the Archives of Yugoslavia, is part of an agreement between Serbia’s embassy in Rabat and the Moroccan library office.

The Archives of Yugoslavia, a cultural institution based in Serbia, houses and preserves archival materials produced by state bodies.

Mohamed El Ferrane, Director of the Moroccan National Library signed a partnership agreement with Ivan Bauer, Ambassador of Serbia to Morocco today, February 22.

A statement from the Serbian embassy in Rabat said that the agreement comes amid the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Serbia.

“This exhibition will seek to reflect, through the presentation of diplomatic documents, letters exchanged between President Tito and H.M. Mohammed V and H.M.M Hassan II, photos and audiovisual archives, the depth of these relations,” the embassy said.

The embassy also commended the strategic partnership between the two countries, reflecting the “spirit of friendship, trust, and of mutual respect.”

The embassy concluded its statement, recalling that the signing of the agreement also marks the beginning of the celebration of the “Year of Serbia in Morocco,” and the “Year of Morocco in Serbia.”

Serbia has long expressed determination to continue to boost cooperation and bilateral relations with Morocco.

In May 2021, the two countries signed three bilateral agreements on diplomatic, military, and cultural partnerships.

The agreements include a memorandum of understanding on political consultation, as well as an agreement to boost culture, education, youth, and sports collaborations.

The two countries also sought to reinforce trade cooperation.

Data from the economy-related website Trading Economics said Serbian exports to Morocco stood at $6.37 million in 2020.

During the same year, Morocco’s exports to Serbia amounted to $62.84 million.
