Rabat – In partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the municipality of the northern city of Asilah, the Asilah Forum Foundation is organizing the fall session of the International Cultural Moussem of Asilah from October 29 to November 18.

The artistic and cultural event will be marked by the organization of six colloquiums as part of the Al-Mouatamid Ibn Abbad Open University.

Themed “The Maghreb and the Sahel: the inevitable partnership,” the inaugural conference will take place from 29 to 31 October. This will be followed from November 3-5 by a colloquium on “What future for electoral democracy?” 

Luis Amado, former Portuguese Foreign Minister, will attend the conference on electoral democracy as moderator, the Asilah Foundation forum said in a statement.

Mauritanian writer and academic Abdullah Ould Abah will moderate the third colloquium “Arabs and new regional and international changes: Whither pan-Arabism?”

The Emirati Minister of Culture and Youth, Noura Al-Kaabi, will attend the fifth conference on “Sheikh Zayed: the visionary leader” on November 12.

In a statement, the Asilah Foundation said the meetings are expected to witness the participation of a large crowd of researchers, intellectuals, decision-makers, and poets from all over the world.

The event’s program includes a series of mural workshops, including a one-man-show exhibition of the famous painter Khalid El-Bekkay, as well as another exhibition on “the summers of the arts” to be held at the gallery of the Hassan II Center.

Another exhibition dedicated to the young painters from Asilah will take place at the Diwan Gallery of the Palace of Culture.

During this session, a tribute will be paid to the veteran of the Moroccan press, Mohamed Brini.

The Asilah Cultural Moussem’s fall session will conclude with a poetic meeting moderated by Moroccan critic Charaf-Eddine Majdouline under the theme of “the language of Arabic poetry today.”
