Marrakech – Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has officially opened applications for the 55th edition of the Morocco Book Prize for 2024.
The prestigious award features several categories, including: the Morocco Poetry Prize, the Morocco Narrative Prize, the Morocco Human Sciences Prize, the Morocco Social Sciences Prize, the Morocco Literary, Artistic, and Linguistic Studies Prize, the Morocco Translation Prize, the Morocco Amazigh Literature Prize, the Morocco Amazigh Culture Studies Prize, and the Morocco Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize, according to the ministry’s statement.
Applications are now open for Moroccan writers, poets, critics, researchers, thinkers, and translators for books published in Morocco or abroad in their first edition in 2023. Eligible works must be in Arabic, Amazigh, Hassani, or foreign languages and must be legally registered.
Additionally, applications must be submitted by October 21, 2024, in two steps. First, complete the online registration via the dedicated platform and print the registration receipt.
Then, send the physical application to the Office of the Directorate of Books, Libraries, and Archives at 17 Rue Michlifen, Agdal, Rabat.
This should include the electronic registration receipt and eight copies of the nominated book.
For the Morocco Translation Prize, the application must also include three copies of the original work, along with eight copies of the translated book and documentation proving translation rights.
Furthermore, candidates who submit their books cannot request their return, as stated in the announcement.
