Rabat – National Geographic recently published its annual “35 incredible places to discover” list for the year 2022, ranking Morocco’s Taghazout as one of the top destinations.
“With waves, dunes and ramps to ride and a traditional souk to explore, finding an active pursuit in Morocco’s surf capital, Taghazout, is no problem,” says the magazine’s entry on the Moroccan village.
National Geographic notes that the popular surfing spot is not so “under the radar” anymore, praising its improved hospitality industry that saw the establishment of world-class hotels such as the Hyatt Place.
The US hotel chain Radisson also announced that it would be opening one of its Radisson Blu hotels in Taghazout Bay, which will cater to upscale adventurous tourists. The bay is also part of Morocco’s 2030 tourism vision.
National Geographic also highlights the fact that Taghazout still retains its laid-back atmosphere.
The surfing season in Taghazout lasts from October to April, with quality waves and beach breaks, making it an ideal training spot for surfing beginners.
