Rabat – The Embassies of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark in Rabat are organizing the seventh edition of the Nordic Film Week with the aim of promoting Nordic culture in Morocco.

The event will take place between October 14 and 18 at the Cinema Renaissance in the capital city of Rabat.

The 2022 Nordic Film Week will mark the screening of four films representing Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, the organizers indicated in a press release.

The films include “Amundsen” by Norway’s Espen Sandberg, “Tigers” by Sweden’s Ronnie Sandahl, “Taste of Hunger” by Denmark’s Christoffer Boe, and “Aalto” by Virpi Suutari from Finland.

The theme of this year’s edition will focus on “Nordic Pioneers” and will honor prominent Nordic figures, including Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. In 1911, he became the first person to successfully reach the South Pole.

The event will also pay tribute to architects Alvar and Aino Aalto. The married couple were pioneers of modern architecture and design. They worked both together and separately to design furniture, dishes, lamps, and architecture.

The Nordic Film Week will further shed light on Swedish football player Martin Bengtsson, “whose story sparked several questions about mental health and the challenges of young people,” added the statement.

In addition, the event will be an opportunity to highlight “the success of contemporary Danish gastronomy” and feature the country’s culinary traditions.

The event will mark the presence of the four countries’ ambassadors to Morocco; Norway’s Larsen Sjur, Denmark’s Jesper Kammersgaard, Sweden’s Jorgen Karlsson, and Finland’s Pekka Hyvönen.
