Rabat – Morocco has secured a spot among the most sought-after visa-free destinations for Saudi travelers, according to data from the travel site Wingie.

With its enchanting landscapes and rich cultural heritage, the North African country is the fifth most favorite travel destination for Saudi tourists.

Topping the list of visa-free destinations for Saudi travelers is Cairo, with a remarkable 40% of bookings. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with 14% of bookings, while Thailand and the Philippines secured 9% and 5%, respectively.

After Morocco, destinations like Georgia, Oman, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Malaysia, and Qatar complete the list of visa-free hotspots favored by Saudi travelers.

The data from Wingie showcased a shift in travel trends among Saudi passport holders.

Saudi tourists have been increasingly turning their attention to visa-free or visa-on-arrival countries, in a bid to escape the complexities and time-consuming processes associated with visa applications.

The travel site revealed a strong inclination towards visa-on-arrival countries, with Turkiye leading the pack with a whopping 60% of bookings. 

Indonesia takes the second spot with 17% of bookings, followed by Azerbaijan at 9%, and Bangladesh at 7%. Other destinations offering visa-on-arrival options include Nepal, the Maldives, and Iraq.

Morocco’s inclusion in the list signals a growing interest in this North African country’s tourism assets and its unique blend of tradition and modernity. 

From the beautiful markets of Marrakech to the captivating landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco’s appeal has become undeniable to tourists worldwide.
