Rabat- The 14th edition of the annual Fes Gate Trophy event, organized by the Fes Gate Association, unfolded its grandeur on March 8 from 16:00 to 22:00, at the prestigious Pavillon d’Or venue in the city of Fez.
This occasion served as a momentous tribute to the global observance of International Women’s Day, resonating with a spirit of empowerment and appreciation.
Drawing upon the rich tapestry of Moroccan society, the event convened a distinguished array of luminaries hailing from diverse sectors, including economics, social advocacy, culture, and religion.
These eminent figures were gathered to be duly honored for their contributions to the development and enrichment of Moroccan society, particularly in advancing the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The comprehensive program, extending across two days, commenced with a solemn recitation of the Quran, evoking a sense of reverence and spirituality. This was followed by the stirring strains of the Moroccan national anthem resonating throughout the venue, instilling a profound sense of patriotism and unity among attendees.
The opening speech delivered by the organizing association set the tone for the event, articulating its objectives and highlighting the significance of the occasion.
Following these opening formalities, the core ceremony commenced with a poignant tribute to esteemed and inspiring female trailblazers from diverse domains, whose impactful contributions have been instrumental in advancing women’s empowerment.
This symbolic gesture underscored the international significance of the occasion, serving as a rallying call for recognizing the pivotal role women play as pillars of advancement in many areas of society.
Neila Tazi, CEO of A3 Parliamentary Communication CGEM, shared her insights with Morocco World News on being honored at the 14th edition of the Fes Gate Trophy.
“It’s an honor for me to be here today among a group of women and men also that are honored on Women’s Day, celebrating women who have very impressive careers in so many different sectors,” she said.
“I think we are now in Morocco in a time where we are really improving women’s rights and the place women are taking in the development of our country. And it is very important to raise the voices of women.”
From the cultural sphere, Majda El Yahyaoui, a Malhoun singer, conveyed her gratitude and appreciation for participating in International Women’s Day festivities. She joined numerous distinguished Moroccan figures from various sectors in Fez to commemorate the occasion.
“I am here today in Fez, alongside the Fes Gate Association, to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8th, alongside various Moroccan figures from different fields – be it economic, political, religious, cultural, or scientific,” El Yahyaoui told Morocco World News.

“Of course, we must not forget the other half of society, men, who are strongly present today. I extend my congratulations to them for all the achievements accomplished by both women and men, contributing to the advancement of the authentic Moroccan society, which is a source of pride for all Moroccans, both within and outside Morocco,” she added.
Karim Benabdeslam, an artist and manager at the Royal Library, shared his thoughts with Morocco World News regarding the honor bestowed upon him at the 14th edition of the Fes Gate annual event.
“Thanks to the association, and to all those honored with me on this happy occasion. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we salute all hardworking and diligent Moroccan women: the wife, the daughter, the employee, and working women, each in their respective fields,” he said.
Latifa Yaacoubi, General Director of ANDZOA, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for being honored at this event in recognition of her significant contribution to national development.
“This recognition not only highlights the contributions of women at the national level but also underscores their dedication to advancing their work and securing their place in society,” she argued. “I wish the association continued success and express my appreciation for this initiative. Happy Women’s Day.”
On the second day of the event, a Chaabana celebration marked the transition from Shaaban to the upcoming month of Ramadan. Attendees engaged in group activities, including the preparation of traditional Moroccan chebbakia, the extraction of rose water, and the application of henna.
The event concluded with a lively performance by Group Aissaoua, bringing the festivities to a close with the region’s renowned rhymes, highlighting the significant contributions of women in various fields of society.
Against the backdrop of Fez’s rich cultural heritage and historical significance, the Fes Gate Trophy event served as a symbol of optimism and motivation, guiding the pursuit of a fairer and more inclusive society.
