Faouzia Ouihya, better known as just Faouzia, is the kind of artist who stops you in your tracks.

Marrakech – Moroccan-Canadian singer Faouzia has been crowned Best International Artist for 2024, with the talented artist’s latest triumph coming at the the 8th edition of the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) in Dubai.

A singer, songwriter, and all-around musical magician, Faouzia Ouihya, better known as just Faouzia, is the kind of artist who stops you in your tracks.

Born in Morocco on July 5, 2000, and raised in Canada, she’s the perfect mix of soulful roots and global vibes.

As a kid, she taught herself to play instruments and started writing songs, setting the stage for a career that’s as authentic as her sound.

By the time she dropped her debut EP, “Stripped,” in 2020, Faouzia was already turning heads.

That same year, Kelly Clarkson asked her to sing “I Dare You” in Moroccan Arabic, and she teamed up with Galantis for the “Scoob!” soundtrack.

Fast forward to 2023, and she was honored as one of Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants – a nod to her talent and influence far beyond music.

The Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards, or DIAFA, is the kind of red carpet event that’s as glamorous as it sounds.

Held annually in Dubai, it’s where the region’s finest come together to honor the people and companies making a real impact – both locally and globally.

Over the years, DIAFA has become a place to honor icons, with each edition dedicated to a legendary figure from the Arab world.

The 6th edition of DIAFA had an extra touch of royal elegance: Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum graced the event as the Guest of Honor.

Last year’s ceremony was all about Faten Hamama, the “Lady of the Arabic Screen,” and was broadcast live across 10 regional TV channels.

DIAFA’s stage is where past and present collide – and where the spotlight shines bright on those who’ve truly shaped popular Arab culture.
