History just did an Uno reverse showing that Indians now own more London property than the English.

Fez – If history had a comment section, this would be the top comment: “Uno reverse, mate!” Because guess what? Indians now own more real estate in London than the English themselves.

That’s right, the former colony just did a real estate mic drop on its old colonial master.

London, meet your new landlords

According to recent calculations by Barratt London, and reported by London Real Estate, Indians have officially taken the lead as the biggest property owners in the heart of the UK.

The English come in second, while Pakistanis take third place. Basically, if London were a game of Monopoly, Indians are stacking up Park Lane and Mayfair while the English are just hoping to land on Free Parking.

So who are these new landlords? They’re a mix of old-school Indian families who’ve been in the UK for generations, non-registered Indian investors (who probably exist in a mysterious WhatsApp group somewhere), students, and families who arrived looking for an education but decided, “You know what? Let’s just buy the whole street.”

That’s a serious flex, considering some British people are still struggling to afford a decent flat where the shower isn’t in the kitchen.

And they’re not buying just for fun, this is pure investment gold. Stuart Leslie, International Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt London, confirms that Indian investors are going all-in because London’s market is like a stable, well-behaved golden retriever: reliable, predictable, and promising good returns in the long run.

Most Brits buying outside London are doing so to actually live there (what a novel concept), but when it comes to London?

Thirty percent of foreign buyers are only in it for the rent. And who’s leading the charge? You guessed it, Indians.

So let’s recap: India, once colonized by Britain, is now buying up Britain, one apartment at a time.

The Empire struck first, but India just played the ultimate Uno reverse and now they’re collecting rent.
