Marrakech – From May 16 to 18, the sun wasn’t the only thing heating up. The 3rd edition of the International Beach Rugby Tournament rolled in like a wave — powerful, a little chaotic, but oh-so-irresistible.
Plenty partners found a common ground to collaborate on this event, including Association Fes des Anciens Joueurs de Rugby, Association Amis du Rugby de Safi, and Association des Marocains Rugbymen d’Europe.
Held at the Radisson Blu Resort, this wasn’t your typical weekend getaway — it was part sports showdown, part global reunion, and part beachside love letter to camaraderie.
Over 220 players from Morocco, Africa, and Europe took to the sand — not just to compete, but to connect.
And let me tell you, nothing brings people together like the shared love of the game, and maybe a little friendly rivalry under the Mediterranean sun.
Teams from places like Rabat, Fez, Marrakech, Safi, and even Belgium and Germany showed up, bringing with them not just jerseys and determination, but stories.
Real ones — passion, legacy, and the kind of brotherhood (and sisterhood) that transcends borders.
You could feel it in the high-fives, the hugs after a tough match, and the laughter echoing long after the final whistle.
But it wasn’t about tries and tackles. This event had heart (literally.) It was about generations meeting in the sand, cultures blending under the same sky, and the kind of spirit that reminded me — sports aren’t just games.
They are conversations. And sometimes, they say more than words ever could.
“
Saidia itself was showing off, as if to say, “Yes, I can do luxury resort chic and still host a killer rugby match.”
With its sparkling coastline, warm hospitality, and world-class infrastructure, the region made a serious case for becoming THE next hotspot for sports’ tourism.
By the end of the weekend, as music played and friendships were toasted with min tea and maybe a little something stronger, everybody realized this wasn’t just a tournament — It was a celebration.
A celebration of sports, connections, of what happens when people from different worlds find a common ground, a common passion. When they come from something bigger than themselves.
