A contemporary dance centered around fire comes to Rabat June 1
Rabat – On July 1, Mohammed V Theatre in Rabat will be set ablaze with Boussouf’s latest creation, “FÊU” — a tribute to fire.
Vital to humanity, fire stirs a spectrum of emotions – warmth and rage, hope and danger, safety and passion.
“FÊU”, which begins at 8:30 p.m., promises a dance that evokes a wide range of emotions and burns with every shade of the human soul.
The group is entirely feminine, composed of nine dynamic and unique dancers. The choreography, designed by Fouad Boussouf, is structured around a circular formation , a deliberate embrace of ritual and unity.
The circle, both ancient and symbolic, becomes a living stage where movement flows endlessly, echoing cycles of life, transformation, and shared energy. Within this sacred geometry, Boussouf blends the pulse of hip-hop, the fluidity of contemporary dance, and the quiet wisdom of embodied memory.
The result is not just choreography, but a visceral language, one that speaks of ancestry, resistance, and rebirth. In this space, the dancers don’t just move; they testify, and they remember.
In his video teaser “Burn to Shine”, one can witness how the dancers fully inhabit the stage, transcending movement and energy to enter a state of trance, becoming one with the percussion and music.
This marks Boussouf’s first return to Morocco with a new creation since his 2022 show “Näss,” which means people. Entry is free, by invitation, which can be collected from the Institut Français in Casablanca.
