As “The Summer I Turned Pretty” returns for its final season, Prime Video and its cast are urging fans to approach discussions about the series with mindfulness.

Rabat – The Summer I Turned Pretty returns with a final season premiering on Prime Video this Wednesday, with a two-episode first drop. The remaining nine episodes of the sequel will air once weekly on Wednesdays.

The series follows Belly Conklin during her annual summer vacation at Cousins Beach. This isn’t just any summer, as Belly finds herself caught in a love triangle with long-time friends, brothers Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher.

Beyond the romance and drama, the series explores themes of family, friendship, and the challenges of growing up, all set against the backdrop of an idyllic beach town.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Lola Tung (Belly) expresses her concerns about TSITP’s fandom.

“I think we see with a lot of these love-triangle stories, people want the leading girl to end up with someone,” Tung says, adding that “When people have an attachment to the characters, they want to see it come together at the end. I’m so grateful that they care so much, but people get a little scary about it.

“Please don’t threaten to kill someone if something doesn’t go your way — I promise you, it’s not that serious. Jenny [Han] is so smart and she cares so much about the story and making it the best story that it can be. It will be okay.”

Shortly after this interview, the show’s official Instagram account took to their stories to warn fans to refrain from online harassment of the show’s stars.

In the now pinned Stories, a first post reads, “Cousins is our safe place. Everything good, everything magical. Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer.”

The second post was about community guidelines stating, “We have ZERO tolerance for bullying and hate speech. If you engage in any of the following you will be banned: hate speech or bullying, targeting our cast and crew, harassing or doxxing members of the community.”

With this season expected to wrap up Belly’s story, viewers can expect emotional closure, romantic resolution, and a deeper look into each character’s growth.

Will the show’s impact on Gen Z and its contribution to the teen drama genre stir conversation for the next few months? We will keep you posted!
