Rabat– Set to release on August 8, the beloved 2003 movie “Freaky Friday” is getting a sequel, starring the iconic duo Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.

“Freaky Friday” is about a bickering mother and daughter who magically swap bodies after a fortune cookie mix-up. This leads to a hilarious, mishap-filled adventure as they navigate each other’s wildly different lives, learning empathy and finding common ground before they can (hopefully) switch back.

“It just hit me. This is where we came for our makeup test on the first movie,” Lohan told People magazine as they wrapped filming.

On the other hand, Curtis stated, “It feels like home.”

Even with a 27-year age gap, the pair supported one another throughout their careers, maintaining a strong friendship and have come to feel like home to each other.

“Jamie was with me at a time in my life when I was going through a lot publicly,” Lohan said. “She was privately really there for me. I can trust her.”

Apparently, even after all that time, fans kept asking for a sequel. “When I went all around the world for ‘Halloween Ends’ in 2022, every stop, they asked. And the answer was ‘Lindsay has to be old enough to have had a teenager,’” Curtis mentioned.

According to Disney, “‘Freakier Friday” picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter.

As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.

The returning cast of the sequel also includes Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, and Haley Hudson as Peg – among many others.
