Marrakech – The Palestinian Ministry of Culture has announced the selection of “Palestine 36,” directed by Mary Jasser, as the country’s official submission for the 2026 Academy Awards. 

The film will compete in the Best International Feature category at the 98th Oscars, set to take place on March 15 of next year. 

This marks the 18th time Palestine has participated in the Oscars since its first entry in 2003.

The film is both written and directed by Mary Jasser, with cinematography by Hélène Louvart (Invisible Life,) editing by Tatiana Jüddin (Dirty Filthy Love,) production design by Nael Kanj (Omar,) costume design by Hamada Attallah, and music by Ben Frost (Dark.)

The selection of Palestine 36 not only celebrates Palestinian filmmaking but also underlines the country’s ongoing contribution to international cinema, bringing Palestinian stories and perspectives to a global audience.
