Rabat – The 7th edition of Tamkine Academy has officially launched in Chefchaouen, bringing together young Moroccans from across the country. The program, running from August 21-30, focuses on themes of innovation, diversity, and inclusion.
Organized by the “Jeunes pour Jeunes” association, the project is supported by multiple partners, including the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication.
This year’s edition offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes training workshops, dialogue sessions, cultural and artistic activities, and collaborative spaces. Participants will engage in discussions on topics such as economic opportunities for youth, sexual and reproductive health, civic participation, and the creative industries.
The goal is to empower young individuals to design and implement community projects, enhance their civic and political awareness, and actively contribute to societal development.
The academy opened with an inaugural lecture by Morocco’s Ombudsman, Hassan Tarik, on “Social cohesion, the importance of values, and the role of institutions: Reflections on the concept of equity.” He highlighted that social cohesion is a core value and goal of public policy, requiring collective effort and incentive-driven policies.
Tarik emphasized that cohesion is not a fixed state but an ongoing process, tied to belonging to a shared space, a nation, and common values, and it demands continuous development and sustained attention.
Hanane Azrih, president of the organizing association, described the academy as “an academic, scientific, and community laboratory.” She emphasized its role in fostering a space for experience exchange and skill development, reflecting the spirit of citizenship and creativity.
Hanane Afassi Idrissi, vice president of the Chefchaouen Municipality, spoke of the academy’s influence in strengthening the city’s role and supporting the aspirations of its youth. She noted that the academy provides a platform for young people to engage with civil and institutional actors, promoting values of equality, solidarity, creativity and diversity.
The Tamkine Academy continues to serve as a vital initiative in Morocco’s efforts to engage and empower its youth, fostering a generation capable of driving positive change in society.
