Rabat – Blackpink member Jisoo released her Instagram teaser on Oct. 4 for her single, “EYES CLOSED.” The post shows her in front with a mysterious figure in the background. The post was captioned: “A duet is near.” Fans started to speculate on who the blurry figure would be, who would likely be featured in the single.
Many people speculated that it could be Zayn Malik, as he attended Jisoo’s New York concert with his daughter on July 27, which was confirmed on a second post on Instagram of Oct.6. Fans were immediately able to identify Zayn by the noticeable tattoos on his neck and head.
Although there was no sound that a Zayn, Jisoo duet was happening, Jisoo took to her Instagram on Oct. 7 to make it official by revealing the cover image of the single with both artists clearly posing together.
The news immediately made headlines everywhere, and many fans started flooding the comments on the posts to express their excitement. “JISOO AND ZAYN EYESCLOSED COLLAB OF THE CENTURY IS COMING”, said one fan.
The single “EYES CLOSED” would be Jisoo’s latest work after having released her solo mini album AMORTAGE in Feb. 2025. As for Zayn, this would be the first musical project he takes on after having ended his tour.
The collaboration of both artists is significant as it shows, yet again, that music transcends language and culture by merging between Western and Eastern culture. Zayn’s collaboration with the only Blackpink member who was entirely brought up in Korea, and is relatively less fluent in English than the other members of Blackpink, is a testament to that.
