Marrakech — Renowned Moroccan actor Mohamed Razine passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 79 after a long battle with illness.
The news was shared by fellow actor Rachid El Ouali on his Instagram account, posting a photo of Razine and writing, “With deep sorrow, I received this morning the news of the passing of the great artist Mohamed Razine, after a struggle with illness.”
“I had the honor of regularly keeping in touch with his son Marwan, following his condition from time to time, hoping that God would grant him recovery, but God’s will was above all,” he added.
According to El Ouali, Razine was not just a passing artist, but one of the pillars of Morocco’s acting community. He delivered timeless works through his voice, performance, and presence, and collaborated with the greatest creators in theater, television, and cinema.
He left an artistic and human legacy that will remain firmly in the memory of Moroccans.
“I extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to his immediate family and to the entire artistic community in Morocco. We ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and inspire his loved ones with patience and solace. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return,” he concluded.
Born in 1946, Mohamed Razine was considered one of Morocco’s finest actors.
Over his prolific career, he appeared in numerous theater, television, and cinematic productions.
Some of his most notable works include “Silent Rooster” (2020), “Kilekis Douar Al Boum” (2018), “Cut from a Tree” (2015), “Salon Sheherazade” (2011), “Kharbousha” (2008), and “Al Majdoub” (2009).
