Marrakech – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced the launch of a new direct route between Casablanca and Los Angeles, set to begin on June 7 of next year, a milestone that positions the airline, and Morocco, at the forefront of transcontinental connectivity.

The 12-hour flight will become the first-ever direct air connection between Africa and the US West Coast, significantly expanding long-haul options for travelers and strengthening Morocco’s role as a global aviation hub.

Operating three times per week, the route responds to rapidly growing intercontinental travel demand ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The service targets a wide spectrum of travelers: the Moroccan and African diasporas, American tourists, business passengers, and supporters planning to attend the global sporting event.

“This new direct service to Los Angeles is much more than an additional destination. It marks a historic milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for Africa’s air connectivity,” said Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc in a press release shared with MWN.

“It reflects our ambition to bring Morocco closer to the world’s major economic, cultural and tourism centers, while supporting the Kingdom’s growing international reach. As a key player in national tourism, we continue to enhance Morocco’s visibility in the US market, one of the world’s most important sources of outbound travelers.”

The new route reinforces Casablanca’s growing status as a strategic connecting platform linking Africa, Europe and the Americas.

It also aligns with RAM’s broader strategic development plan, which includes expanding the fleet, opening new routes and increasing frequencies across international and domestic networks.

Flights will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners, offering passengers modern long-haul comfort, individual entertainment systems and the high onboard standards for which the aircraft is known.

With this announcement, Royal Air Maroc deepens its footprint in North America. The carrier already serves New York, Washington, Miami, Montréal and Toronto, and the Los Angeles opening comes amid frequency increases on major long-haul routes including São Paulo, Miami, Washington and Dubai.

This expansion emphasizes RAM’s ambition to solidify its leadership as a reference airline in Africa, while supporting Morocco’s positioning as an international aviation crossroads, particularly as the country prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030 with Spain and Portugal.
