Morocco Ranks Sixth Among Belgians’ Top 10 Travel Destinations in 2025

The Kingdom was also the top destination outside Europe, placing ahead of the UK, Portugal, Austria, and Greece.

Casablanca – Morocco has officially made it into the top 10 destinations for Belgian travelers, ranking sixth among foreign destinations in 2025, according to Belgium’s statistical office Statbel.

The Kingdom recorded around 700,000 trips by Belgian residents in 2025, placing it behind France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Germany.

France topped the list with 6856 million trips, followed by the Netherlands with 2.633 million, Spain with 2.217 million, Italy with 1.452 million, and Germany with 1.437 million.

Morocco’s position becomes even more notable when looking beyond Europe. The Kingdom was the top non-European destination for Belgian travelers, ahead of the United Kingdom with 660,000 trips, Portugal with 558,000, Austria with 509,000, and Greece with 428,000.

Morocco’s growing appeal

The numbers also reflect a wider rise in Morocco’s tourism sector. The country welcomed a record 19.8 million tourist arrivals in 2025, marking a 14% increase from the previous year.

The wider tourism boom also brought record revenues, as Morocco’s tourism receipts reached MAD 138 billion in 2025, up 21% from 2024.

A destination for every kind of trip

Part of Morocco’s appeal lies in how much can fit into a single trip. A visitor can spend a few days wandering through the medina of Marrakech, then trade the red walls for the blue streets of Chefchaouen or the historic lanes of Fez.

The country also offers plenty beyond its famous imperial cities. The Atlantic coast brings destinations such as Agadir, Essaouira, and Taghazout, while the Atlas Mountains offer a very different landscape for travelers looking for nature, hiking, and quieter escapes.

Then there is the Moroccan desert, where trips around Merzouga and the Sahara offer another side of the country, from vast dunes and overnight camps to slower moments under the stars.

A strong place in the Belgian travel map

For Belgian travelers, Morocco now sits alongside some of Europe’s most established holiday destinations. With more than 700,000 trips recorded in a single year, the Kingdom’s sixth-place ranking shows that its appeal extends well beyond its proximity to Europe.

And with Morocco continuing to expand its tourism offer, the Belgian appetite for Moroccan sunshine, culture, food, and landscapes looks unlikely to stop at the top 10.
