Lamjarred’s return to the Moroccan stage was supposed to be a celebration, but the price tag has fans talking.

Fez– After nearly a decade away from Moroccan stages, Saad Lamjarred is making his long-awaited return with a live concert set for July 12 in El Jadida.

The announcement sent fans into a frenzy, but not necessarily for the reasons the organizers might have hoped.

It’s been nine years since Lamjarred last performed in Morocco, a hiatus largely shaped by the legal troubles he’s faced since 2016.

While he continued to release music and perform abroad, Moroccan fans were left waiting. Now, with the El Jadida concert, they finally get a long-promised reunion with “Lamaalem.”

But the celebration was quickly overshadowed by the controversy surrounding ticket prices.

According to the official announcement, tickets start at 950 MAD for the “Silver” category and rise to 1,750 MAD for “Gold”, the latter offering extra perks, though details remain vague.

The backlash online was immediate. Many fans took to social media to express disappointment and frustration, accusing organizers of setting prices that shut out a large portion of Lamjarred’s fanbase: an audience that, for years, stood by him during his public and legal challenges.

Comments ranged from criticism of the “elitist” pricing to broader questions about access to cultural events in Morocco.

“He became famous thanks to the masses,” one user wrote, “not the VIP rows.” Another pointed out that the average Moroccan salary doesn’t allow for such luxury, especially in a summer packed with other expensive events.

Still, not everyone was critical. Supporters of the pricing structure argued that the ticket cost reflects both the prestige of the venue and the significance of Lamjarred’s return.

They noted that this isn’t just another concert, it’s a comeback, a production promising surprises, collaborations, and what organizers are calling a “premium musical experience.”

One of the evening’s biggest moments is expected to be a joint performance between Lamjarred and the popular Moroccan group  “Fnaïr”.

The two acts will finally perform their hit song “Assef Habibi” live on stage, five years after its release. Also joining the show is rising artist Mohamed Atef, who will open the night’s festivities.

The concert coincides with the release of Lamjarred’s new single “Riskina”, marking a fresh collaboration with director Amir Rouani, the same creative mind behind the viral hit “Lm3allem”,  which remains one of the most-viewed Moroccan music videos on YouTube.

“Riskina” features lyrics by Mohamed Amir, a melody composed by Lazaro and Salah Mjahed, and production by Zouhair Hassadi.

The song blends traditional Moroccan rhythms with a modern pop structure, proof that Lamjarred is still fine-tuning his balance between innovation and identity.

Saad Lamjarred’s return to the Moroccan stage is a test of public perception, a moment of career recalibration, and a reminder of the fine line between fame and public expectation.
