Rabat – Bollywood film “Captain India” is set to be filmed in Morocco in 2026. The film will feature Bollywood’s highest-paid star, Kartik Aaryan, who will play the role of an air force pilot in the story inspired by true events.
According to the specialized website “Pinkvilla,” production crews have conducted field visits to several locations in Morocco to select filming locations.
The film is expected to be released in cinemas in the first half of 2027.
It is directed by Shimit Amin, the Indian-American director known for the hugely successful film “Chak De! India,” starring Shahrukh Khan.
“Captain India” marks Amin’s strong return to the world of directing after a long absence.
According to sources, “Kartik Aaryan and Shimit Amin have been in talks for the last year, jamming on multiple subjects to explore a potential collaboration.
That’s when Kartik introduced Shimit to the world of Captain India, and the filmmaker found it to be a fascinating story.
The film, inspired by a true story, also stars rising Indian star Kartik Aaryan, who will play the role of an Indian Air Force pilot.
It is directed by the renowned director Shimit Amin, whose notable works include “Chak De! India” (2007) and “Rocket Singh” (2009).
This project confirms the growing confidence of international film production companies in Morocco, which has previously hosted the filming of a number of famous international films, including Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015,) The Old Guard (2020;) and Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning (2023,) in addition to upcoming films such as Gladiator II, Badh (2024,) and The Odyssey (2025.)
