Fez – Elmaleh, often described as one of the most popular comedians in the world today, is scheduled for three nights at the Mohammed V Complex on September 25, 26, and 27.

The shows mark his first return to Casablanca since 2019, when he performed “D’ailleurs” at the Mégarama.

Co-written with fellow comedian Roman Frayssinet, “Lui-même” signals a new chapter in Elmaleh’s career.

The performance is less burlesque and more confessional, delving into deeply personal experiences such as his retreat in a monastery, an encounter with Pope Francis, his views on money, and the plagiarism accusations linked to the CopyComic affair.

Audiences in Brussels and Marseille have already praised the show for its sincerity and humor, with sold-out performances underscoring the comedian’s enduring popularity. Fans highlighted Elmaleh’s willingness to acknowledge past missteps while still delivering sharp, relatable comedy.

For Casablanca audiences, the upcoming shows are more than entertainment; they are a cultural event. Elmaleh, who has long embraced his dual Moroccan and Jewish heritage, remains a symbolic figure of Morocco’s global artistic reach.

His last performance in Casablanca came in November 2019, when “D’ailleurs” explored themes of identity, migration, and fame. With “Lui-même,” Elmaleh appears to be offering something even more personal: an unfiltered reflection on his journey as both an artist and an individual.
