Marrakech – Instagram is actively developing a new feature called “Spins” for Reels, according to the  website TechCrunch.

Created  by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, the feature would enable users to interchange text or audio elements within Reels created by other users.

This new functionality could serve as a platform for users to initiate trends by crafting templates that others can then customize with their unique creative touch.

For instance, if a particular template gains traction, individuals could modify the text or audio to adapt its meaning to different contexts or scenarios.

TechCrunch also shared a screenshot posted by Paluzzi on X, formerly Twitter, revealing that creators would receive acknowledgment for their original Reels each time someone generates a Spin of it, enabling them to expand their audience reach.

Additionally, the screenshot suggests that users would have the option to enable or disable the feature for individual Reels through a “Spins” toggle presented before publishing.

The website emphasizes that Spins should not be conflated with Reels’ current “Remix” functionality, which mirrors TikTok’s duet feature, enabling users to appear alongside an original video to provide commentary or reactions.

In contrast, Spins offers a distinct avenue for collaborative fun and creativity, allowing for more dynamic interaction between users.

As per the information provided on the website, Instagram confirms that Spins is specifically an internal prototype and is not undergoing external testing.
