Fez — La Galerie 38 has opened “Dimension 2112: The Station,” a solo exhibition by Moroccan visual artist Ghizlane Agzenaï, running from February 5 to March 14 at its Marrakech space in Gueliz.
The exhibition marks the second chapter of Agzenaï’s “Dimension 2112” saga, first introduced in 2023.
With this new installment, the artist deepens the construction of a parallel world shaped by color, geometry, and light, transforming the gallery into a transitional space between the present and an imagined future.
A utopian universe driven by energy and color
“Dimension 2112” takes its name from a mirrored date — December 21, Agzenaï’s birthday — but the project goes beyond symbolism. It proposes a joyful, optimistic visual ecosystem animated by the idea of expanding energy. At the center of this universe are Agzenaï’s signature totems, which function as luminous markers and points of circulation within the space.
These recurring forms establish a symbolic language that invites viewers to detach from linear time and project themselves into a reality unbound by the constraints of the everyday. Through abstraction, the artist opens a space for imagination, movement, and renewal.
An immersive and transversal experience
With “The Station,” La Galerie 38 becomes a threshold rather than a conventional exhibition venue. From the entrance, visitors encounter an immersive installation inspired by spatial architecture. Vivid canvases, sculptural volumes, light compositions, video elements, and art furniture come together to form an environment conceived as a docking station toward elsewhere.
Agzenaï’s approach deliberately blurs disciplinary boundaries. Painting, sculpture, design, and digital tools coexist within a single visual narrative, reflecting her commitment to a transversal practice that exceeds traditional exhibition formats.
A contemporary mythology in the making
This new chapter confirms Agzenaï’s pursuit of a universal visual language rooted in geometric abstraction and vital energy. Her work positions art as a force of hope and openness, capable of transforming space into a territory of possibility.
“Dimension 2112: The Station” represents a key step in the artist’s ambition to build a contemporary mythology — one that is luminous, expansive, and deeply humanistic — while reinforcing Marrakech’s role as a growing platform for contemporary African art.
