Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication has officially opened applications for the 5th edition of the National Prize for Visual Arts, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to supporting the country’s creative ecosystem.
This year’s edition is structured around three main categories: the National Prize for Young Painters, the National Prize for Artistic Photography, and the National Prize for Sculpture.
Submissions are open from April 24 to June 15, inviting artists from across the country to take part in one of the sector’s key annual initiatives.
A strong emphasis is placed on nurturing early-career artists through the Young Painters category, which is open to creatives aged 18-30.
The competition begins at a regional level, where candidates participate in local artistic meetings organized by the ministry’s regional branches.
Winners from these regional rounds receive awards of MAD 30,000, MAD 20,000, and MAD 10,000, before advancing to the national stage.
At the national level, top winners in the Young Painters category are awarded MAD 100,000 for the Grand Prize of Excellence, followed by MAD 60,000 for the Prize of Distinction and MAD 40,000 for the Encouragement Prize.
Meanwhile, the Photography and Sculpture categories, both open to participants aged 18 and above, offer prizes of MAD 60,000, MAD 50,000, and MAD 40,000 for first, second, and third place respectively.
With its multi-tiered structure and significant prize pool, the National Prize for Visual Arts continues to position itself as a strategic platform for discovering and elevating Morocco’s next generation of artists, while strengthening the country’s broader cultural landscape.
