Rabat – Moroccan actor Assaad Bouab returns to French screens with the upcoming Netflix series “Maternité”, currently in production.

Alongside him, “Maternité” will bring together a cast that includes Izia Higelin, Pablo Pauly, Louise Labèque, Gaspard Meier, Mouloud Ayad, Manon Kneusé, Clémentine Justine, and Florence Loiret-Caille.

Currently being filmed in Paris and the Île-de-France region, the series takes viewers into the high-pressure environment of a public hospital struggling with staff shortages and mounting challenges.

At the heart of the story is Maya, portrayed by Izia Higelin, a midwife whose professional life is devoted to welcoming new arrivals while her own future hangs in the balance.

As mounting pressure, staff shortages, and the realities of an overstretched healthcare system reshape her daily routine, she finds herself torn between the demands of her career and a deeply personal aspiration she is not ready to abandon.

The project is spearheaded by screenwriters Marjorie Bosch and Sarah Farkas, both of whom bring extensive experience in French television drama, with previous credits including medical and suspense series such as Nina, Tom et Lola, and Vortex.

With “Maternité”, Bouab adds another ambitious production to a career that continues to bridge Moroccan and French screens.

Known for major roles in “Marock,” “Days of Glory,” “Whatever Lola Wants,” and the hit French series “Call My Agent!,” Bouab continues to strengthen his presence on the French screen with another high-profile production.

The actor has also remained visible to Moroccan audiences, most recently through his leading role in the Ramadan series “Al Hayba Ras El Jabal”.

As filming gets underway, “Maternité” is already shaping up to be one of Netflix France’s closely watched upcoming dramas, pairing an acclaimed cast with a story rooted in both personal and social realities.
