Rabat – World-famous Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred took to social media on Saturday to share with fans an album of photos documenting his wedding.
After announcing on September 11 that he planned to marry his best friend Ghita El Allaki, the Moroccan star shared yesterday on Instagram a series of pictures from his wedding.
The first picture shows the young couple in traditional Moroccan clothes, with Lamjarred wearing a white Moroccan Jalaba and his bride boasting a green Caftan with matching jewelry. The couple was holding hands while sitting in a Moroccan-styled piece.
The following picture shows the young singer in formal clothing — a dark blue suit and white shirt — bending down to sign the marriage contract.
The photo gallery also features a similar picture of the bride boasting a Moroccan traditional white Djellaba. The picture shows Saad Lamjarred being hugged and congratulated by members of his family.
The next picture shows the couple walking down the a corridor, wearing matching white traditional clothing and holding hands.
Prior to the wedding news, the young singer’s career had been riddled with sexual harassment allegations.
The first case of sexual harassment against the Moroccan signer surfaced in 2016 when a French woman accused him of rape, saying that he had “ruined her life.”
Lamajarred spent six months in detention at a French hotel pending trial. He then was later released on bail in 2017.
One year later, the singer was yet again arrested on charges of sexual misconduct and was released later the same year.
Throughout the singer’s relatively long saga of sexual misconduct allegations, many of his fans expressed support of solidarity, while critics slammed the popular support as an alarming instance of the banalization of rap culture and toxic masculinity.
When Lamjarred announced his wedding plans earlier this month, some of the singer’s relatives and family friends described his bride-to-be as a good and loyal friend who offered him much-needed support and comfort amid his trying period of sexual harassment allegations.
