Rabat – Zaid Ali Group “Star Hill” Tangier and the international group Hilton Worldwide signed on Friday an agreement aiming to open Morocco’s first Waldorf Astoria International Hotel.
The project is the first of its kind for Waldorf Astoria not only in Morocco but also at the African level, said a joint communique from Hilton and Zaid Ali group.
The two partners also said they signed the agreement as part of Morocco’s efforts to strengthen investments and promote tourism in the city of Tangier, noted the statement.
The Waldorf Astoria Group is present in different cities across the world, including Beverly Hills, New York, Washington, London, Amsterdam, Rome, and Dubai.
According to the joint statement, the partnership “responds to the convection and ambition of Star Hill Tangier to establish partnerships and alliances with large companies of international renown and prestigious players, sharing with the company the same values of excellence and global services of good reception and accomodation quality guard.”
The partners’ Tangier hotel is set to be located at just 20 minutes from the city center on foot, and just half an hour-drive from the city’s airport.
The hotel will include several features including a Spa, heated swimming pools, Jacuzzis, and a sport care unit.

The hotel will also include 95 rooms and suites, as well as 20 luxury riads and a Villa Royal dedicated to high-level visitors and special guests.
It will also include three international restaurants as well as a business center meeting rooms, among others.
Hilton International manages several top-tier hotel brands worldwide, including Waldorf Astoria.
Located 14 kilometers from Europe, Tangier is one of the most popular vacation destinations among Moroccan and foreign tourists alike.
The Tangier hotel project comes as Moroccan tourism recovers strongly from the COVID-19 crisis.
During the months of June and July 2022, Morocco welcomed a total of 3.2 million tourists, notably including a 65% increase in July compared to the same period last year.
