Rabat – Jazzablanca festival the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 15th edition will take place in Casablanca between July 1 and July 3.

“We missed the magic of Jazzablanca! Outdoor concerts, eclectic atmosphere, a passion for jazz that extends to funk, pop-rock, and soul music… The Jazzablancais universe is back, with its warm atmosphere, its discoveries, and encounters,” the organizers said on April 21 in a press release. 

The organizers noted that the festival “has been faithful to its commitment to Casablanca’s cultural life, and continues to cling to the universal values ​​that music promotes: generosity, tolerance, and passion.”

They further promised their audience an exclusive and unforgettable experience throughout the three-day event.

Founded in 2006, the Jazzablanca international festival has attracted thousands of music lovers every year. It has witnessed performances by renowned jazz, soul, rock, and funk artists such as legendary American saxophonist Maceo Parker who worked in the 1960s with the Godfather of Soul James Brown. 

On April 8, National Geographic featured the Jazzablanca festival in an article titled “Six of the Best Music Festivals in Morocco for 2022.”

Placing the festival sixth in the list, the piece described it as “a cosmopolitan, creative musical event.” 

Other featured festivals included the Mawazine Rhythms of the World Festival in Rabat, World Sacred Music Festival in Fez, Gnawa World Music Festival in Essaouira, and Oasis Festival in Marrakech.

Transahara festival in Merzouga topped the list. “Held in a secret location in the Erg Chebbi Dunes near Merzouga, Morocco’s desert rave features ambient electronica and psychedelic beats from European and US artists,” said the author Emma Gregg.
